Database Help: Vanderbilt Television News Archive

Provides access to a growing collection of television news broadcasts from the U.S. National Television Networks.

• A current version of RealPlayer is required to use this database.
• Only NBC and CNN broadcast video clips are available for viewing online.
• To play a video, click on the  icon.

• To search for more than one term, connect each search term (including the first term) with the + symbol: +automation +cockpit. There should not be a space between the + symbol and the terms.
• Use the - symbol to exclude a particular word from a search: +aviation +accident –runway.
• Use an asterisk (*) at the end of the root of a word to find all variants: pilot* will find pilot, pilots, piloting, etc.
• Enclose terms in quotation marks to search for exact phrases: “cockpit resource management.” Note: You cannot use exact phrase searching with Boolean operators (+,-,*).
• To browse, click on the Browse by Date tab.
