A guide to locating and using case studies in your research.

If there is a case number...(APA 7th Edition)

General format: 

Author(s). (Year). Title of case study. Number of case study. URL. 

Example, Harvard Business School Case Study: 

Johnson, S. (2005). Management. HBS No. 7-806-122. https://hbsp.harvard.edu/cases/ 

 

If the case study was found in a textbook...(APA 7th Edition)

General Format

Author(s) or editor(s) of the chapter or entry or case study. (Year). Title of chapter or entry or case study. In First initial. Last name, & First initial. Last name (Eds), Title of book (pp. xx-xx). Publisher. 

Example:

Pederson, S. (2008). The XYZ Group. In J. Ness, Cases in digital processing (pp. 11-20). CDMA Publishing. 

If there is no case number...(APA 7th Edition)

Cite the case study like you would cite the source normally. If it is a scholarly article, use that formatting. If it was found on a website, use online citation rules. 

General Format (Scholarly Article)

Author(s). (Year). Title of article. Journal Title, volume(issue), page numbers. doi 

Example:

Chandresekhar, T. (2020). Supporting the needs of college students with autism spectrum disorder. Journal of American College Health, 68(8), 936-939. http://dx.doi.org.ezproxy.libproxy.db.erau.edu/10.1080/07448481.2019.1686003
