Using AI for Reading

AI can help you with reading by:

Extracting information from a document or email
Summarizing a document
Generating a set of flashcards of key terms from a document
Explaining a term that you don't know
Generating a set of quiz questions from a document to help you master the information

Even with an uploaded article, AI can hallucinate. Therefore, be sure to:

ChatPDF
Upload a pdf and then ask questions about it. It will cite it's answers from within the paper.
Docalysis
Upload documents and ask questions about them. Does require creating a free account.
Humata
Upload a PDF to get a summary of an article or chat with the engine about it. Compare articles to find information. Creates citations to the information within the articles that you upload in its answers. Does require a free account.
Notebook LM
NotebookLM requires a Google account. Create notebooks that contain multiple documents, websites, videos, and more. You can interact with the documents in multiple ways. Chat with them or create podcasts, videos, flashcards, or mind maps. The information you include in notebooks is private to you and not shared with other Google products. All of the answers NotebookLM provides are specific to the information you have uploaded and contain references so that you can verify easily.
Perplexity.ai
Create an account to upload documents and have it create summaries.
Scholarcy
Summarize documents that you link to or upload. Generate flashcards to help you understand articles. Does require an account.

Scite.ai
Research database that the library provides. Scite.ai Assistant will allow you to upload a document that you can then ask questions about or it can create a summary for it.

Semantic Reader
Part of Semantic Scholar. Will create overlays on articles to help you understand articles more easily. Customize the number of overlays.
