A guide to help faculty set up, modify, and maintain their Portfolio pages.

Exporting Citations from Google Scholar into BibTex

Navigate to Google Scholar

  1. You will see two options at the top left, My Profile and My Library. Select My Profile
  2. If you are not yet logged in, enter your credentials to sign in. Upon signing in you should land on your profile page where you will see a list of your articles/citations.
  3. To select all citations click on the checkbox at the very top. Alternatively, if you only want to export some citations, you can click on the check box next to each individually.

  4. Once you’ve made your selections, select the Export option at the top, and choose BibTex as your file format. This will convert your citations into BibTeX format.
  5. Your citations should appear as plain text – this is the BibTex. Right click on the page and use the save as option to save the page as a text file.

  6. Alternatively, you can copy the BibTex text into a text editor (such as Notepad for PC or TextEdit for Mac) and save it as a .txt or .bib file.
  7. This file is now ready to upload to your Portfolio page or to send to your Scholarly Communication team to update your page.
